A Lifesaving Haven of Hope - Our Journey with the Bridge Women's Center
Our story begins with a decision we never thought we'd have to make. Both of us had children from prior relationships, and the fear of judgment from family and friends led us down a dark and difficult path towards abortion. In our vulnerability, we felt scared and utterly alone. Or so we thought.
After taking the abortion pill, the weight of our decision immediately bore down on us. The guilt and pain were unbearable, and it felt like living in a constant state of agony. We knew that we couldn't carry this burden for the rest of our lives. In our desperation, we scoured the internet for a glimmer of hope, a chance to reverse our decision. That's when we found a hotline that connected us with nurses and doctors willing to prescribe the necessary medication and schedule a sonogram at the Bridge Women's Center for the following day.
As we arrived at the Center, we couldn't help but wonder if we were in the right place. We were standing in the middle of a parking lot, staring at a van. However, our determination to save our unborn child was unwavering. We took a deep breath and stepped onto the bus, and to our surprise, we were greeted by three incredible women. They knew why we were there, but instead of judgment or discomfort, they showered us with kindness. The warmth and love in their eyes were palpable, and it was as if a weight had been lifted from our shoulders.
After some necessary paperwork, it was time to determine if we could reverse the course of our devastating decision. All eyes were fixed on the screens as the sonogram technician searched for signs of life from our baby. And then, a heartbeat! The joy in the room was overwhelming, and we couldn't believe that these women had tears in their eyes. They didn't even know us, but their compassion was boundless.
Then something extraordinary happened, something that would change our lives forever. These women asked if they could pray for us. They laid their hands on us, and as we all closed our eyes, a profound sense of peace washed over us. In that moment, our fears of being vulnerable, scared, and alone vanished. We knew we were making the right decision.
Stepping off that bus marked a turning point in our lives. Not only did the Bridge Women's Center help us save the life of our child, but they also opened the doors to a relationship with Jesus. Fast forward to today, and we have the privilege of attending services weekly at Old Bridge Calvary Chapel with our beautiful, healthy baby girl, along with her brothers and sisters.
We owe this incredible transformation to the staff at the Bridge Women's Center and the members of Old Bridge Calvary Chapel. They are truly doing God's work, embodying the words of Luke 18:16, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God." When we thought we were alone, with nowhere to turn, the Bridge Women's Center was there for us when no one else was. They gave us the most precious gift we could ever ask for.
Our hearts are forever grateful.
